Hey guys, it's been a while since I wrote a review, been busy with work and stuffs but I am here today again, I am backed, because I am too excited, excited that something good came in today.

All right what is this thing I should be excited about?

We just got one unit of Final Audio Design earbud - the Piano Forte II!

I will give you guys a little bit of insights about this earbud and the company that produces them. Final Audio Design is a Japanese company that is famous in Hi-fi speakers.
If you read carefully their flagship speakers actually weighed one ton, and made by stainless steel. That's how crazy they can be, because they trust this advance technology could help into producing life-like music.
Final Audio Design also went into portable industry these few years and they claimed it to be the best universal fit in-ear-monitor. They priced it at the highest price tag in my IEM price I have known.
Anyway, back from random talks, we are curious also what the price of their earbud going to be, to my surprise it is only below RM200 it is going to be unless they suddenly think it is underpriced. :)

The box come in as a normal box, with totally nothing inside besides some manual and instruction, without the standard earbud foam. It actually told us it doesn't require foam, how surprising!

This thing comes with a L shape plug, which has a lot more advantage than the straight type. The earbuds comes in a 15.5mm driver, consider to be very huge for an earbud. They is also a curve like thing and a hole in it, it think it will be their horn type speaker technology that they boasted. How could this technology assist in producing more life-like sound? We washed our ears and prepare to rock and roll.

I will just use my iPhone, without amping for my initial impression. This will be the 0 hour, out of the box impression. I will only use shuffle for the songs that I play, will be able to cover several genres for testing purposes.

The first song I got is Norah Jones - Come away with me. When the music starts, I was like o_O. I was in bliss, the mids are so sweet, vocal is what it is good at. Airy, and transparency is formidable in mid, is that the sound for a less than 200 earbuds? The only complain right now is the mid is rather forward, but I can bear with it since vocal songs I love it to be near. Bass is shy for this moment, don't have the kicks to call impactful. I would say it is also due to my natural "elf-type ears". My ears is very hard to fit in earbuds, that's also why I use IEM more. This "elf-type ears" has a very structurally strange shape that I basically give up in getting a good fit for any earbuds, sealing is very minimal unless I use my both hands to cover up my ears. As you all also know sealing is essential for enjoying bass reproduction.

Next up, the songs I get is Jack Johnson - Banana pancakes, again, the guitars sounds just right and accurate, vocal is intimate. The details are lacking if you compare to higher end IEM, well... Earbuds, I don't really expect so much, the importance is how they reproduce MUSICALITY. In this department I really did well. However I found the treble is a bit too sharp for me, maybe it is due to 0 hour of burn in, the driver is still hard and stiff, we will revisit this song later on.

The third and forth song I got is Jay Chou's pop songs. This time, as the bass is predominantly the meat of this songs, it is not so involving due to the lack of pump-py bass. It's ok, I don't listen to too much bassy songs, but will try revisit again after burn in and see how it affects the driver.

The fifth song I purposely picked Faye Wong - Tian Kong unplugged to test. This is my favorite song to test the element I want, the mids and the vocals. Again, I was in BLISS. I am totally captivated by Faye Wong's voice.. Ahhh, I even repeated this song a few times. It is like I am laying on the sofa and she is singing just for me, with the bands playing behind her. I even smiled when this song is playing.

So, what so special about this earbud? Great separation? Huge staging? Precise accuracy? Studio like balance?
Nah!
The special on this earbud, the Musicality, the feeling induced.
It might not have the best of all those mentioned above, but the musicality i get from this earbud is indescribable. i had been deeply touched by all the songs i listened, because of this awesome earbud =D
If you like forward mid a lot and involving with the music, this is definitely value for your buck.
Is it worth Rm200-?
Hell no, it worth even more then the actual value!!
i will continue burn in for more effect =)

Ok, finally i'm able to squeeze in sometime for my 2nd impression, after 50 hours of burn in effect.

after some burn in effect, the brightness slightly tune down a little bit, not significant.
However, the mid.... the vocal.... i like them alot, it does improve slightly well initially i dont compare with IEM,because it's earbud so it will be unfair for them, but the musicality is what i'm seeking for.

I tried some vocals, from Olivia and damien o rice.

i'm deeply touched by the song, decent level on controlling the mid high and treble, but...

the sweetness, the extension, the involving are mind blowing.

Vocal lover? this is your gift =D , if you like to appreciate musicality on music, definitely this baby will put your music path into another world

Some eye candies:

i love the part faye wong singing next to you. I have always wanted that kind of clarity. That's what i get when i tried the FAD FI-BA-SS.The separation of instruments is awesome. How do these 2 compare? Is there much a difference? what is the potential with amping?

The Shure SRH 440 is lacking in bass.... Besides, its a flat balanced headphone used for monitoring. Monitoring headphones are synonymous with flat frequency response and non coloration. Alot of mid to low end headphones are lacking in bass.. Want headphones good tight bass? Denon D5000. Want it even better? D7000.

Yes that's why you have to compare a Rm200 earbud back with a Rm200 headphone and see what you get. Not compare a Rm200 earbud with something that is double triple or four times the price. You always have to keep things in perspective.
